Your online credit card transactions are secure with www.literacybuffalo.org. We use Secure Socket Layering (SSL), the industry-standard encryption technology that ensures safe Internet transmission of your personal information. When the letters "http" in the URL change to "https," the "s" indicates you are in a secure area employing SSL; also, your browser may give you a pop-up message that you're about to enter a secure area.
Making a credit card donation is just as safe on our website as it is by telephone, but if you prefer the latter, you may make a donation by calling 716.876.8991 – 9 am to 5 pm Eastern Standard Time, Monday through Friday.
The Information We Collect
Whenever you donate to Literacy Volunteers -- we obtain from you only the information we need to complete your transaction. This may include your name, address, telephone number, and email address. If you use a credit or debit card or pay by check, it will include your account number.
How We Share Information
Except as described in this policy, Literacy Volunteers will not sell, share or rent your personally identifiable information to any third party. Any information (such as name, address, email address, telephone number and credit card information) provided to Literacy Volunteers when customers make a donation, sign up for our email list, or request information is maintained in private files on our secure Web server and our internal systems. This information is used to enable Literacy Volunteers to deliver services and details about our services to customers.
Your Choices Regarding Use of the Information We Collect
If you supply us with your mailing address, you may receive periodic mailings of newsletter or event notices from us. If you do not wish to receive such mailings you may have your name put on our "Do not mail" list by contacting us via email, calling us at 716.876.8991 or writing to us at 1313 Main Street, Buffalo, NY 14209. Please provide us with your exact name and address the way it appears on our mailing label. We will be sure to remove your name from the list.
Because we plan mailings in advance, you may continue to receive some offers after you ask us to remove your name and address from our email or postal mailing lists. We appreciate your patience in giving us time to carry out your request. Please also note that when a customer makes a donation, we send emails to confirm the order, and may also contact the customer by telephone, postal mail or email if we have additional questions regarding the order.
Literacy Volunteers of Buffalo and Erie County is a registered New York State charity in "good standing" and is incorporated as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation under the US Internal Revenue Service. Donations and contributions to Literacy Volunteers are tax-deductible.
