Literacy New York Buffalo-Niagara helps area families to live better lives.
Illiteracy is one of the greatest threat to our children’s future. Education, and especially literacy, is the cornerstone of success in our society. However, one of out every three Buffalonians – or nearly 90,000 residents – are considered functionally illiterate. Our programs and services address the literacy needs of the families in our community by offering:
- One-to-one free tutoring in Basic Reading or English Language Learning for adults in Erie County
- Youth literacy tutoring programs
- Peer-to-Peer Tutoring Programs (trained teenagers tutoring youth in the community)
- Neighborhood Literacy Drop-In Centers
