Neighborhood Literacy Drop-in-Centers
Literacy Drop In Centers are neighborhood based locations staffed with trained Literacy Volunteers who provide students with personal instruction designed with their goals and capabilities in mind. The selected sites establish convenient locations and hours so that literacy can be extended into diverse areas throughout the regions of Buffalo and Erie County to serve the populations that need our services the most. Due to a list of students waiting to be matched one-on-one with a tutor, our drop-in centers provide them with immediate service so they do not have to wait until a volunteer is found to get help.
Literacy Volunteers of Buffalo and Erie County provides full administrative and organization support to these neighborhood literacy centers, including scheduling of tutors to staff the site, supervision of instruction, coordination of necessary learning and support materials and the advertising of the literacy centers to the people in the community.
