Enterprise Charter School Youth Mentoring

Our mentors help make a difference in the lives of the children that they mentor by volunteering for approximately two hours per week. Through Literacy Volunteers and Enterprise Charter School's Youth Mentoring partnership, trained mentors work one-on-one with at-risk students in grades 4 through 8. The program, funded by the United States Department of Education is designed to give low income students a chance to overcome factors that put them at risk of eventually failing out of school or getting involved with unhealthy activities. Adult mentors (age 16 and over) work with the students to improve their ability and enjoyment in reading, while fostering their capacity to form healthy social skills and maintain productive relationships with others.

We are proud to report that the Enterprise Charter School is the only charter school in the country to receive this three year federal grant.
