Teen and Peer Tutoring

Youth can participate through LV in a variety of roles, including as volunteers at community centers, churches or other public places; in school with younger children who need reading help, or as assistants for family literacy events. Youth participate in orientation and training developed for their needs. This is an excellent way for young people to build their knowledge and competency, to fulfill community service requirements they may have for school, church or scouting-type organizations; and to build a strong resume or college application.
For information on schools and community groups that have programs through Literacy Volunteers, or for more information, contact us at 876-8991. To the extent that funding is available, some paid tutor opportunities may exist.
